Historic St. Charles Church in Vanier saved from the wrecking ball. My grandfather Honore Paquette lived and worked near this church in Vanier in the early 1900's, he blasted rock from the nearby Vanier Quarries and would have been involved blasting rock and carting it around town at the time that this new church was being built. I often am reminded of his labours in the community when I observe the grey stonework at the foundation of this church and think that he was likely involved somehow in providing some of the foundational stonework. Now designated as a Heritage Site, it is nice to see that new life is coming to this historic site.
